What are the subgenres of teen film?

Youth Drama.

-       Some subgenres focus on social dilemmas faced by the main character, usually male.
-       Seen to be a more authentic representation od youth and therefor more relatable.
-       The main character is often rebellious and/or conflicted with others
-       Mainly focused on the difficulties faces during the teenage year and is seen as being difficult problem


High School drama.

-       Started become popular in the 1970s
-       Various amount of subgenres surrounding high school drama
-       Shows the similarities and differences of the socialisation of groups in school and home
-       Often enjoy the idea of being youthful
-       Lead character is often a girl but might focus on other males

-       Tends to focus on the main character and the other groups that are conflicting within school.
