ROUGHCUT 2 Feedback (teacher and peers)

After viewing our second rough cut, we received feedback from peers. We found that people generally said they like the layout of the title sequence. They said they liked how we showed that there are 4 different characters. And how each had a different method of getting ready. Our teacher told us she likes the continuity of the scene and how we represented the characters (for example, the 'popular' kids are both wearing black with leather jackets while the 'geeks' are wearing superhero jumpers). 

However, at this point we still had to add the transitions which would make our title sequence seem more seamless and it would just flow better. Peers also commented on the fact that two characters are doing similar actions (closing the fridge and fixing their hair) if we edited in a match cut, the sequence would look better. 

Another thing we lacked was that we still have to add titles to our sequence. This will include the actors names and the producers/directors names. It will also include the most important, which is the film title. 

We also have no sound. This makes our title sequence seem longer than it actually is. We have a few tracks in mind which could work with our final edit, all we need to do is add it onto Final Cut Pro. 

 

Our final thing we need to do is to produce two different idents to place at the start of the sequence. This alerts the audience who the production and distribution companies are. 

These were all little changes that we can improve on within a couple hours, we are very close to having our final piece ready. 

Films that influenced us

We were influenced by 10 Things I hate about you, we liked the title sequence for this film because of its music and how it cuts through all different characters showing what they're all up to. I think that this is what we would like to achieve for our title sequence we also liked the text that they used for their title sequence and we decided to use a similar text for our film title 'TBH UR NOT ALL THAT' 

We were also influenced by Mean Girls, we didn't want to use elements from Mean Girls such as voiceover because we thought that this wouldnt fit in with our title sequence however we liked the font of their credits and how they appeared and decided to use something similar to that. 

We were influenced by Clueless because of their song we decided that we wanted something similar but without lyrics and to be rock. We just thought that this would help our shots to look faster and more upbeat which we were aiming for.

Roughcut Feedback from Target Audience

Overall we got really great feedback like:

Some said that they found it really good and liked how we sped or slowed things down like the bump between Bilal and Dilara shows the connection between them and slowing it down makes the audience focus on that more and shows that they have a relationship between each other.

They said they would of liked it more if Bilal's shot were more brighter when he's putting on his hat and jacket. However we still added them because we cut them to two bits one bit wasn't too dark and the other one just had his silhouette which was a different way of filming him so we decided to add it in anyway because we liked the effect.

They also liked how we used cross cutting between Martyna and Valerie and Valerie and Bilal which shows allows us to see the time and how they're all leaving at the same time apart from Dilara who is late.
